Hi, we have bought and are currently renovating a villa which has radiators run by bottled gas.  We are interested to hear from people with the same set up :

1. Do you have to have a contract with a gas bottle supplier - if so recommendations please

2. Do you have to have a certificate to show it’s safe - if so how/where do we get this

Many thanks in advance for any help

Cheers

Sharon and Mike

Yes, we do, my husband put everything in and we had Cepsa come to connect the gas supply and sign it off and Vaillant came to commission it.

We have two banks of 5 bottles and he has disconnected the link between the two banks. We did this because once the first 5 bottles are empty we still have the other 5 to keep us going rather than have it totally run out, inevitably when in the shower!

We don't have a contract we just take the empty bottles for exchange at our local ferretaria.

Hi Cheryl

Thanks so much for your answer.  We assume ours must have been initially commissioned and checked when it was set up, so we’ll get someone to check/service it for us.

Great to know we can take the bottles to swap!

Thanks

Sharon

It seems we do have a contract, sorry, forgot all about it, I think we got it when Cepsa checked everything.

If you have a CEPSA contract, they will deliver/connect for you.

Suggest you check the flexible pipes from the gas bottles to the manifold. They will be date-stamped. The pipes should not be used beyond that date.

We had 12 bottles. CEPSA charged around 100 Euros for new pipes and around 60 Euros for the test/certificate.

Just a suggestion.  You mentioned you have two banks of five bottles.   You should fit an automatic changeover valve where the two banks join and then go into the house.  That way you will never get a cold shower.  Mine puts up a red flag in a little window when that bank is empty.

Hi, can I ask who delivers your bottles?

Hoping to be able to pay by bank transfer rather than cash.

Thanks

Sorry I can't help as we pick them up ourselves.
To reply to Classic man we have disconnected the two banks, that way, when the first bank runs out we can simply switch over to the second bank to finish the shower (when it inevitably runs out) and we then have fair warning we need to get the first bank replenished.
