HI all,

For the last couple of years I've tried periodically to source replacement shelves for our oven.

When we bought our place in 2017, the oven came with it (obviously...) but mysteriously, the previous owners took the shelves with them when they left.

This has never really been an issue as we tend to BBQ or eat out quite a lot when we're over in Spain but I really would like to find some shelves to widen our options for cooking.

I've tried all the usual suspects but can't find anywhere that does replacement shelves.

It's a standard built-in oven so I'm assuming bog-standard 600mm shelves will fit.

Anybody know of a supplier locally?

(And yes, Jim...I'm pinning my hopes on you, mate.)

Hi Dave, nice to see you popping up on the forum again. Are you still in my area, or have you moved?

I got my oven shelves from the Sunday Zoco market outside Quesada. If you go up the entrance ramp on the right, turn left and a few metres along there's a kitchenware stall who do a variety of sizes. I must admit that the shelves I got from them are better quality than the one we inherited from the oven.

See...? I knew you wouldn't let me down! Many thanks for the advice.

Long story short, we're still splitting our time between Manchester & San Bartolome because the job in southern Murcia fell through.

I was over working for them on a consultancy basis from last Oct to Feb this year & as part of that, they asked me to write a report on the possible effects of a No Deal Brexit on the site near Cartagena. I did this & presented it to the UK board in late Jan and sadly, it confirmed their own suspicions about the site's viability going forward (fresh produce, short shelf-life, low margin, 75% exported / imported to the UK, vulnerable to supply chain disruption, etc) so they decided to sell it because the only real value was in the land (20 acres of prime growing land.)

So in effect, I managed myself out of my dream job / move. Should've lied I suppose...

Another Brexit bonus....

Still very much looking to move over permanently though so if anyone needs a Manufacturing / Operations manager for their site, here I am.

Hope you'e well too.

Must catch up for that coffee in Almoradi when we're over in October.

Ouch, Dave, that's nasty, and all because you were telling the truth, but it shows your integrity.

I sincerely hope it all works out for you.

Definitely up for a coffee whenever you want. San B is only ten minutes from us, and we normally go to the bar near the opticians on the main road - the optician Andrés is a friend of ours and we normally go there when he's due for a break from tending customers. Or come over to Rafal, where the Boulevard and Doky have coffee much better than the bars in Almoradí.

Please get in touch before your next visit - it would be nice to meet up. You'll definitely like Margaret - everyone does - me, I'm not so sure!
