Hi Shiela

My hubby and I both have Samsung Note 4 mobiles which are dual sim which we bought off ebay. Most mobiles only take 1 sim and especially in Uk very difficult to get dual sim phones. You may find it easier in Spain to get 1, or from internet, or the shopping channels have them frequently for about...

... the £100, but these are not the well known branded makes but as I had one for 2 yrs before dying I would not be against buying again. Look on Amazon too, search "dual sim mobile" and yes its perfect for not having to carry 2 phones or charging 2 phones, also knowing you are able to use either sim at any time or receive msgs from either sim. I have a Tesco mobile and a Spanish Hits sim in mine.

Good Luck

Pauline.

Didn't know that dual SIM not common! Pure luck then that mine is dual SIM lol ! .!

Hi

We're moving to Spain from the UK in a month or so.  My mobile phone contract is up for renewal and I'm wondering what if I should upgrade my phone and contract here or wait until I get to Spain.  The trouble is I've called a few companies here in the UK and they've all stated that afte...

...r a few months in Spain my SIM card will stop working unless I return to UK on a regular basis.  I've not heard of anyone else having this problem or has that been the case for some people? They basically said it may not get cut off at all but there is a chance that it would. I did tell them I would still have a UK address and UK bank but it made no difference. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks

Use Lebara phone company in Spain they are very good, the rates they charge are very reasonable, I am as pay as you go, I ring Australia France and Malta very cheap, Lebara is the best I find.

My friends in Spain have been using their Vodafone account for years and I'm sure they've not had any problems. if you top up regularly or pay your monthly account I can't see why it would expire.

Some companies do say that you can't use the add-ons for long term use ie Three - it might depend on the company you're using.

If you need a Spanish SIM then Hits is a good one you can have pay as you go or monthly

I haven't read all this thread, but I'd point out that the Motorola Moto G (which my wife has) is a reasonably priced and well regarded mobile, and most variants are dual-SIM.

You can set it to use either or both SIMs. Now that roaming charges have been abolished in the EU, having two SIMs is a bit academic, but post-Brexit may become relevant again.

That's interesting. I didn't realise you could have two sims in a mobile. Is it a special phone?

Just bought a huawei phone 99€ has 2 sims in it for my partner so she can have her uk number in it,impressed far superior to my old iPhone,

There are quite a lot of dual SIM phones around. I've had one fot years. Very handy to have UK and Spanish Sims as people don't often want to call a UK phone

Great.  Overtime you send a text or make a call do you have to choose which Sim you're using? Is it straight forward?

While both sims are always active, when you call or txt you are always given choice which sim to use. No bother at all. For data, I only use my Uk sim so its automatic(spanish one for a phone use only) but if data on both? Then one would have to be switched off at a time. Most people would only choose originally 1 sim for all data.
