Just after a bit of advice. I bought a car from a dealer in early April. I was told the documents to register the car were being sent off to Traffico and I would get them in a few weeks in the post. The car is due it’s first ITV on 27/06 but was going to get it done a bit earlier as we will be away around the time it’s due.

So all I have is the certificate of insurance

What is the progress of obtaining the first itv and  what documents are required

Thank you

You need the "Permiso de Circulkación" and the "Certificado de Caracteristicas Tecnicas". You will be asked if your address is still the same. Good luck..

Personally with a first ITV that imminent I'd have asked for it to be done pre purchase, even if I had to pay for it, but that's now water under the bridge.

The dealer should have given you the original "Inspection Tecnica de Vehiculos" as that doesn't change with ownership and carries the record and stickers for previous ITVs where appropriate.

They should also have given you a photocopy of the "Permiso de Circulation" which is what gets sent to DGT.

You will need both of those not only for the ITV but also to actually drive the car on the road so if you don't have them then first thing tomorrow go back to the dealer and demand them.

With the above going for a first ITV is exactly the same as for a renewal.

Turn up

Present documents and pay

Drive through test

Get test report and if passed  windscreen sticker
