It really depends on what type of area you are seeking.  As you already live in Spain would it be a case of preferring a Spanish town to an 'ex-pat' urbanisation?  And the type of property you are seeking, ie amenities on your doorstep or something in the campo.

Spanish towns within an easy drive of the coast include the city of Orihuela, Catral, Dolores, Almoradi, Bigastro, San Miguel de Salinas, Callosa, Cox, Benejuzar and Jacarilla - all lovely, traditional traditional places but also with expat communities close by.  Coastal towns of Torrevieja and Guardamar de Segura too.  There are obviously others too.

Popular areas with higher non-Spanish resident populations include Ciudad Quesada (Rojales area), Orihuela Costa (includes Villamartin, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Los Altos, Punta Prima, Los Dolses etc), Entre Naranjos, Montemar (Algorfa area), Benimar (Benijofar area). La Marina, El Raso. And again there are others too.

I would suggest you have a good look around both to see how you feel about a place, when restrictions allow.  Speak to the locals to find out how things are in more normal non-covid times too, especially the difference between summer and winter regarding the amenities.

Enjoy you visit to the area.

thank you so much for this, I dont want to be in an urb, also 20 mins more or less from the coast...No neighbors as I have dogs n' cats.. Campo is fine, a big garden is a must...I don't want to do a lot work to it, as I have built 3 houses in Spain and done with that...Also about 150 square metres and 3 - 4 Bedrooms and a large dining area...

Not far from bars restaurants shops amenities etc

Thanks again

Mary x
