Hi. I had my second AstraZeneca Covid 19 dose nearly 6 months ago. I would like my booster vaccination.

Orba clinic is giving the booster vaccination for the over 60's, but only giving Janssen & Pfizer.

Does anyone know if AstraZeneca will be used for the booster or if the only option is Janssen or Pfizer and would i qualify as an over 60?

Thanks. Kevin

No AZ is not being used for boosters, it’s only the Pfizer.

I would check with your local salud as you need to make an appointment for the booster, it’s not an automatic recall.

It seems to vary by area, when you are eligible.

My husband went to our Medical Centre at Cabo Roig last week his appointment is on 15th Feb 2022, they are only offering the Boosters to the over 70s at present, although I was told that may change in the next 2-3weeks.

He will be given Pfizer, one thing apart from his SIP card he also needed to present his passport and his Covid certificate in paper form, but that may vary across the different Medical Centres.

Yes Guardamar Salud are only doing over 70’s age group, but I don’t think the wait is that long.

And yet I know someone, who has an appointment for a booster next week, under 70 and not even six months since their  2nd jab and not even at their own salud ??????

It does seem that it's a post code lottery when people are being given their boosters and at what age. Just wish there was some consistency in all this, how difficult can it be to organise?

Hopefully they will revert back to vaccination centres with a test message calling you for an. appointment. I’m in the group that got called when the centres first opened for AZ jabs, so my 2nd jab was on 28th June. There must be so many people eligible for booster jabs from 28th December onwards, that the queues will be horrendous for making appointments.  If that’s the case it will be a nightmare if you need to make an appointment to see a doctor or a nurse for a normal appointment, which could result in more people attending hospital.

I need to see my doctor for a repeat prescription, but I’ve just found out  from my farmacia that my salud is closed until January. Ok it’s a satellite off the main salud and I can request a repeat prescription there, but they’ll only be able to process it for one month as it’s not my gp. The little salud closes normally between Christmas & Three Kings, but to close it for a whole month is beyond belief.

What has happened to the Spanish Health Service, it used to be one of the best in the world.

Hi Kevin,

A booster of Pfizer, following double vaccination with AZ, has been shown to provide a better level of  protection than being given a booster of AZ, so don't worry on that score.

Kind regards,

Kim
