Hi

I have 2 dogs and cannot find many places between home here on Mote Solana in Pedeguer and Java on the coast.I tend to drive up to the cliff top walk at the miramar south of Javea but wonder if there are any other off road footpaths that I can walk the dogs safely around these areas?

Regards

John

Hi John I live in Javea and also find it hard to find really good long walks with my dog.  I live in the CAMI vell de Gata which is the old road from Javea to Gata.  There are some really nice bits down the valley which allow you to let them off the leash.  Another area to consider is the Gorgos dry river bed which is just perfect for letting dogs run free.  Particularly the flood plane which is nice and green. If you are interested in meeting up with dogs for doggy walks just let me know.  My dog, a staffie cross rescued dog is really friendly and I think the social side is so important for dogs too:) regards Lizzy

Hi Again

How did you go on taking your pet dog out last winter as it rained really hard,I was in the UK so did not realise you had such a poor winter?

Hello John

We had horrendous rain which filled the river quickly and it was flowing too fast to go near it for days but it stopped flowing eventually, leaving standing water for a few weeks.  The dogs loved it but it was a bit muddy in some places.

There are rabbits down there and sometimes the shepherd droves his sheep there so if you can't recall your dog I would keep it on a lead until you can see the coast is clear...

good luck

Lizzy

Hi Lizzy

Oh dear my dog loves rolling in mud it was lucky I wasn't there as back home in the Lake District I can sprinkle him with the hose pipe before I let him inside the house.

I walked along the river along the Jalon valley it was a great day for walking and the river had clear water and there was no sign of the dreaded mosquitoes ,cannot understand where about they went as last year I was bitten allover!

Walkk out of the entrance past post boxes turn right onto road 50 mts at end of crash barrier where it's flat sterts a path towards the mountains you can walk your dog for as long as you want, full circuit is about 11 hours on signed paths. Or the back of la sella linear walk of 2 hours. Pago marshes full of tracks flat walk of 5 hours.

Hi Jeff,

Yes My partner and I went on that walk but before we reached that tall rock stack we came to a bit of path that my partner could not transverse as it was very rocky and rough so she decided it was easier to walk towards the town instead. We now go up to the Jalon valley and walk up river.

The fact is we came over for our Spring break this year and had to drive home within 2 days of arriving due to lockdown. We are concerned we won’t be able to return for a number of months as we have to be invited for a couple of vaccine injections sometime next year and a summer visit is out due to the grass growing fast on our 2 acre garden here it needs weekly cutting and the flower beds require attendance too ,I expe ct the garden in Spain is a jungle now.
