Hi All,

I am just wondering what is the best way to visit Valencia for the day, we are back out in a couple of weeks and my daughter really wants to take in the city. Is there a train nearby? I have only ever driven so would appreciate any tips.

Thanks for reading

Depends what transport you have at your disposal. If you have a car, I would recommend driving to the suburbs of Valencia, somewhere like Torrent, parking up in a secure car park, and getting the metro in to the centre.

There's also a fairly frequent train service between Gandia and central Valencia. If you have a car, I suggest going to Xativa, a station a little way down the line, because there is free parking outside the station. I believe it's about 11€ return from there.

Also from Oliva, there are buses to Gandia, or all the way to Valencia and back. As you probably know, there are only one or two buses a day from Pego to anywhere, so if using that method, you'd need a taxi to Oliva.

Thank you! I have a car while I’m here but wondered if easier to get the train. I’m not over familiar with Valencia it’s self and will be taking my 72 year old dad as well as my daughter and he is one who tends to panic if he doesn’t know exactly where he is going. Thank you you have been very helpful 😊

... very helpful 😊

I think your best bet then would be to drive to Xativa, park up free outside the station and get the train. Xativa is only a few miles past Gandia on a good road, check it out on Google maps.

Thank you so much! Is the train a direct train to Valencia? I know really very little about the rail network out there. Any help would be appreciated

Kerry 😊

Hi… Do you mean drive to Xeraco train station as Xativa is much further in to the mountains whilst Xeraco station is just further north of Gandia?

thanks

Hi Kerry

This may not be much use to you as you are  planning car/train travel but a few years ago I did one of those day trips to Valencia with a coach company, picking up in Torrevieja.

It took hours...... after many pick ups,  we did stop for a drink/breakfast  at a motorway cafeteria but by the time we arrived in Valencia we had just over an hour before the shops were closing for siesta. We had lunch & took a city centre guided tour .....   there wasn't time to achieve much more  as   around the time the shops reopened we were on our way to the coach to come back. It was a lovely city but a day trip just wasn't worthwhile on the coach trip so hope you get more time when you visit

Cheers

Yes, my apologies, I got the names muddled up. It's Xeraco, not Xativa. Pronounced a bit like Jericho!

To answer the other question, yes the train is direct to the centre of Valencia.
