I’m travelling back to UK next week.  Last time I needed to have a test before departing Spain and had to prove that I had made an appointment to have a test 2 days after arriving in UK.  The airlines require this info.   I have checked UK gov website and I couldn’t find anything stating I have to have a test BEFORE I leave Spain.  Can anyone offer advice who’s recently travelled to or returned from UK?

Thanks

Travel to England from another country during coronavirus (COVID-19) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Updated yesterday (22nd Nov)

Double vaccination certificate required, plus passenger locator form and (pre-booked) day-2 lateral flow test.

If lateral flow test is positive, PCR test to be taken. If PCR positive, self-isolation is mandatory.

Booster-3 not required.

Hi

you require a UK locator form filled in no earlier than 48hrs prior to your flight home & proof of your pre-booked test for when you get home, also proof of your vaccination. Hope that helps

Hi

We travelled back last Wednesday evening from Murcia ,we did the locator form 48 hours before and it as to be the 48 hours   You put  in your arrival time to UK, I had mine printed , she checked them at the desk ,we flew Ryan , she gave me a small piece of paper with a number she had written on it x2 , when we got to the gate some had lost the paper and had to step out of the queue and get their forms out again,  arriving in Manchester I had the forms ready for passport control , and some staff said you dont need it ,its attached to yourpassport details on line, well thinking about it  ,it would be,  we did the lateral test Saturday Morning and were negative, Monday went for 3rd vaccine, Wednesday evening after being  home a week we were emailed by track and trace and texted, I do not have the app, when asking them when from the contact they said the 17th well its either Manchester Airport or on the flight , we had been home 7 days, we do not need to isolate , and yet the emailed said you did so that needs updating, the contact tracer said its not a legal requirement for the pcr but if you have  symptoms  to get one as you can still get covid. Hope that helps

Hi forgot to mention in my reply, we arrived back on the 8th Nov ,posted our test off, got a negative reply

back on the 14th and then got a text from T & T  on the 16th Nov that we had been in contact with somebody who tested positive, so we had to go for another test which was negative also, I think they must be picking all flights or random flights and asking all onboard to test again.

We had the same message from T & T after being back in the UK following a flight from Dubai.

Somebody on our flight had tested positive for Covid, so I’m guessing all passengers were contacted and advised to have a Covid test. We booked a walk-in one for later on the same day, free of charge, tested and both negative.

This is the perfect example of how T & T should work

Can’t help thinking things might change shortly, whereby tests are again required prior to going back into the UK from Spain, it’s already confirmed that anyone entering the UK from anywhere will now need a PCR test after arrival, and must also quarantine until a neg result comes back. It’s also possible European countries will now start insisting that travellers will need a test before entry, let’s see. So lateral flow tests are no longer acceptable, back to the PCR tests and at least 48 hours quarantine in the UK.

Thanks to all for your supportive messages.  However, I’ve just read UK news this morning and it looks like I will have to self isolate if I fly back next Friday, take a test on day 2 and wait until I have the all clear before I can go anywhere!  I may now have to consider cancelling my trip! Will be glued to the UK news all week.  Very worrying if another virus is spreading.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

The gov.uk web site has not been updated yet it’s still saying a lateral flow test or PCR test is required, as of Sunday 28th Nov 1015 am.

The latest update from the news is you need to take a PCR test not a lateral flow one, this is to be taken within two days of arrival and isolate until a negative result. You do not need an eight day test.

Hi

On the news last night ,as you have probably seen it, everyone will need a pcr test on entering, but they haven’t given a date, also mask wearing its flashed up on my news today masks to be worn from Tuesday in shops and transport, so just waiting to see  when the  pcr test will start, is should be announced today, and will come with 10 days isolation , I have family who are returning from Portugal this afternoon after going for golf, so its a bit late for people to get a. PCR  test, those from South Africa and certain African countries need to isolate in a hotel, we came back 17/11 and had the lateral test,
