Hi everyone, I an hoping to travel to Benidorm on the 27th December with my husband. We are both fully vacinated + booster, my question is, regarding new rules to have a test within 48 hours of leaving Spain and one when we arrive back home to England. Can anyone tell me "what we do,  if the test, while we are still in Spain, is positive and our flight is within 48 hours" do we isolate in the same hotel we have booked or do we get shipped to somewhere else?

Regards to everyone Gwen and Bryan

I can only speak from personal experience and some friends who have also used them without a problem.Your Which links are helpful with some other economic options.

The problem with many review sites is people who have had an issue are likely to complain and it is less likely for people to bother to issue a positive review....

...

The Trustpilot information that is missing and would be interesting to know  is what are the total number of test kit orders have been issued by this company.

I only included the link as it would be an economic option for many people.

As the postal tests are open to all sorts of issues as they are self administered.

My own view regarding testing in the UK is a means for Government to collect data and make overseas travel less attractive.

I believe Spain still does not require a pre-departure test and it would be interesting how that has affected transmission rates in Spain on entries from the UK.

Hi Gemily,

you can only say as you find. Your right that there is no volume reference in the stats. I don't think it is just that only people who have an issue complain, it's that more people complain about the lower rated companies. Though cost is important at the moment getting your results back quickly is also important so picking a company with a balance of cost versus reliability would be the best option.

I expected Spain to ask for pre-departure tests, for as well as entries from the UK what about all those other European countries that are having surges in infections, Germany being the highest at the moment. Maybe that will happen soon?

Rgds,

Aitch.

Thank you but if you are checking out of your hotel in Spain where do you isolate to as you cannot board the flight? Gwen

I think you need to arrange your own accommodation to isolate by checking availability at local hotels.

Hi Gwen,

you have asked a good question and it is right to think of it now. Sorry, I don't know the answe, I would say to ask at the hotel where you are staying when you arrive, or even email them now to ask.  If they do not offer a option to stay and self-isolate you have time to look around for alternatives. Not a great activity to have to do on holiday but better than waiting until the last minute.

As far as I know Spain do not have dedicated hotels for covid isolation but someone on here may be able to advise differently.

Rgds,

Aitch.

Thank you for your answer anyway, it's such a difficult time, just hoping our holiday doesn't get cancelled. Regards Gwen

Hi,

I think you may have been lucky using ExpertMedicals, their reviews on Trustpilot do not make good reading:

https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.expert-medicals.co.uk

The attached from WHICH in the UK has some good advice and feedback on a number of companies:

https://www.which.co.uk/news/2021/11/travel-news-cheap-pcr-covid-19-test-discount-randox-express-test-c19-expert-medicals/#%20Expert%20Medicals

As there is a need to self isolate until test results are received I would recommend looking for a company that has good feedback on the reliability of their service.

Aitch.

We used Arrival Diagnostics Ltd.

The tests arrived within 24 hours of being ordered.

The results arrived 12 hours after they received them. ( The tests are sent back tracked postage and they received them at

9: 40 Tuesday morning and we had the results at 19:00 on the same day.)
