As a point of interest I'm currently undertaking a small "reform" in our house and am finding my way round the bureaucracy as I go.

The physical work isn't too much of a problem and I have a good builder on call for the things that I can't (or am not allowed to!!) do.

It's a learning experience so if there's anything you want to know just ask

RE: electrical supply: this is charged with an increased rate for standing charges etc for every ‘uprate’ in the supply; ie most domestic supplies are either 3.75KW/5.75KW/9Kw - over and above this I understand you are into ‘industrial/commercial’ territory.

The standing charges for the 3.75 are the cheapest and go up as above. The costs per unit for consumption are not in them selves too horrendous, but over and above the charges are various taxes plus IVA at 21%.

Iberdrola do offer various tariffs dependent upon time scales - ie one may select the period during which you choose to have cheaper power supplied, the rest of the day will be at virtually double the price. I you look at their website - available in several languages, the options are explained.

Should you want any further information, please don’t hesitate to pm me, kind regards, Stephanie

My most recent bill showed that I had consumed 26.88 of electricity but with standing charges and taxes the total was 54.75. That's on a potentia of 4.6KW.

Hi Relyat and Stephanie,

We are so grateful for all the information and advice that you have both given to us.

We are amazed that people on this forum are so willing to help complete strangers.

It has made us feel that we are not alone in this process as there are people we can ask if we are at all worried.

Looking forward to our journey in August and we will report our findings.

Once again our sincere thanks

Beverley and Rein

Hi there, we have a renovated town house in Pego that we found through estate agents Casitas Pego opposite the Casino restaurant, they were very helpful. Bear in mind that most things close down during the day in August, I have been there and it is like a ghost town! Also be aware that being a working town people leave for work around 6 - 6.30 and it can get a bit noisy, our house is opposite a bakery that opens at 6 so we know from experience.

Good luck with your search

Regards

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Your message is so reassuring as i have contacted Sonja at Casitas but did not know of anyone who had bought through them.

Our visit is just to get a feel for the area so as long as there are some supermarkets and a few bars open we will be happy.

Please can you message me with the lawyer you used. I would like to contact them before we come down.

Many thanks

Beverley and Rein

We have a couple of friends who have bought and renovated in Pego and live it. We live close by in Adsubia and love our village and Pego.  Give us a shout if you move to Pego and we can maybe meet for a coffee.  We have been here just over a year.
