Hi, where is the nearest/best place to purchase butane gas bottles for a free standing heater?

Many thanks

Have you got an empty one? If so, just exchange it for a full one at a Repsol or Cepsa petrol station as appropriate. Other petrol stations and ferreterias etc also often sell gas.

If you haven't got one, you have the choice of taking out a contract with Repsol or Cepsa in order to buy a new bottle, or buying one second hand.

Thanks Jim, I think it will be a case of taking a contract, can we do this at a petrol station? The lady at the shop where we bought or heater said a gasolinera?

I don't know whether Repsol and Cepsa petrol stations can do a contract, but it's worth asking. You may have to go to one of the distribution depots, and they might want to inspect the gas installation - i.e the estufa. Although I'm usually all for compliance with the law, I must admit we bought second-hand gas tanks - the going rate is €10. Buy an empty one like that, then go and swap it for a full one. There's quite an active trade in second-hand bottles.
