Hi everybody, as we can not get over to Spain for the foreseeable future we need to top up our current bank account ( Sabadell). Does anybody know the best, cheapest way to transfer £2000 to our euro account in Spain.

Yep, me too, Transferwise is easy to use and very difficult for other exchange companies to beat their rates:

Kind regards,

I have used Transferwise for quite a few years now and totally agree with the above posters.

Additionally, Transferwise now support direct debits, I have moved mine from Bankia to them and they are working perfectly.....no charges.

My next step was to close my Bankia account when next in Spain....not sure when this will be now.

Thanks Kenbo, I may do the same given the cost of the account I have.

You are most welcome Tim.

If you are with Iberdrola or Hydraqua you can change the direct debit details on their respective websites once you have opened your Transferwise account, open a Transferwise borderless account at the same time, this will generate an IBAN number, this is all that you need to change them over.

Hi Ken,

I think your posts are really helpful, especially for non-residents who are being stung by expensive Spanish bank charges.

I've used Transferwise for currency exchange for many years and I think this more recent facility, to set up direct debits for regular Spanish bills, is a great development.  It competes with the newer, mobile app bank accounts, such as N26, Revolut, Monza, etc., but Transferwise can also be used on PCs, laptops and tablets too.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thankyou Kim

I think the all round benefits now provided by Transferwise just gives them the edge over the others, very good customer service too.

N26 is no longer available to UK residents.

Best wishes, Ken.
