Hi

I bought a two bedroom apartment last year and my solicitor hit me with a bill for non residents tax. Can anyone tell me what non resident tax is based on and whether i need the services of a solicitor to pay them.

Thank you.

Julia

Your solicitor will charge an arm and a leg for doing it, we used Spanish Tax Forms Ltd, Google them, based in the U.K. you send them your details, they complete the form, send it back to you by email, print it and take it to your Bank and pay the tax, the company charge around £30, much less than a solicitor.

My solicitor charges me 60e per year .  This includes handling and paying my suma as well as my non resi tax. I do nothing I just get 3 or 4 DDs per year to cover everything

Assuming your property has been revalued since Jan 1, 1994, it's 24.75% of 1.1% of your cadastral value, which is shown on your SUMA bill for IBI.
