Movistar call charges to Uk mobiles.

My Spanish friend has a Movistar unlimited calls contract. I have a Uk mobile and also with an unlimited calls contract. I do not incur call charges when I call him. He no longer phones me (preferring to use whatsapp). I queried this with him and he told that he got charged the last few times he called. I told him that the EU rules changed all that but he insisted he was charged. He called in to a Movistar shop and they said national (but not international charges) applied when phoning a UK mobile.

Can anyone who a Movistar contract shed any light on this.

Depends on what call package he has...maybe he does not have unlimited international mobile calls included so he gets charged at the appropriate rate.

So your UK call package may include international mobile calls, his may not, hence why you do not get charged for them yet he gets charged for them.

That is nothing to do with "EU Rules", just down to how the local company runs and charges for calls...perhaps you are thinking of the EU roaming charges...which would apply to your UK package charges being applied when you are in the EU, but this would not apply to a movistar call made from Spain to a UK number, since the movistar call is originaling in Spain?!?!?
