Air circulation on aircraft is not what your saying, it does not keep the same air.

Totally agree with you Dave, that’s the kind of false news that dooms the industry. On average an aeroplane will dump the air every 3 mins, considerably better than sitting in an office block with an aircon system. In addition to this the air passes through virus filters that take a great deal of the harm away (97%) ... the problem with flight in its current form are the seating arrangements. I’m not saying we should all rush to the airport, but let’s understand the facts properly when we do.

I have another query!  My partner lives with me full time in one town but has his own property in another area.  He’s worried that if he went back to his place to check on it and pick up mail and was stopped by the police, that because his place is strictly speaking his home, he wouldn’t be able to come back to my place despite all his clothes and a lot of household items are now at my house. Also if we ever manage to get on a flight back to the UK, because he is a Spanish resident although a UK citizen and has a British passport, would there be complications? I think we may be overthinking things!!

Hi Risie. It sounds difficult, but im sure there must be a way around your situation.

I think its wise to wait until phase 3 before doing anything.

And unless you have to go to the UK. Stay away

I wish we had a choice, Good luck hope it all works out for you x

Travel home if you must and you should be fine because everyone else will have had a covid test as will you so should be safe enough.

Please remember, you are leaving a warm climate to go home to damp and cold. Your home will be very cold having been unoccupied for so long, could even be damp unless you left the heating on which you may not have done. I think you should stay in Spain. The money you are paying in rent will be used for heating in the U.K. Drying clothes outside is difficult, my tumble drier is used most days and the heating is rarely off. If you could manage to remain until March and then go home, I think would be wiser. Very little virus in your area in Spain but mist of England and elsewhere are in severe lockdown.

Once you leave Spain, you won’t get back in again until the restrictions are relaxed and yet another 2 covid tests.

Think hard and seriously. Naturally you are thinking constantly about your overstay and the rental cost BUT you are alive and well and probably able to go out everyday for a walk and a coffee. You can’t do anything much at home. People are suffering from mental health issues.  Be wise and stay where you are. Ask your family what they would advise. Please don’t risk your health at this point. I expect you need to go home for your vaccinations and if so, needs must. Don’t worry about flying, never been a better time to fly.

I have removed all the strange off topic posts - please stay on topic. This is just a forum about Spain.

My wife & I have been in Spain ( Orihuela Costa ) since October 11th '20. It was our intention to return to the UK 1st week of January but domestic repairs prevented us doing so. We are non-resident and under new Brexit rules, our 90 day stay (effective 1st Jan '21) will have ended on 31 March '21. Our EHIC expires 11 March '21. I've looked at the pros & cons mentioned by members on this topic and are wondering if anyone know where we would stand if we don't return before our 90 days expires. Of course we would need to take the Covid19 PCR test before travelling, if this requirement is still in force when we decide to travel. The cost for the test is another factor; if one gets a positive result then one would have to isolate and then take another test? What is the UK government doing to help UK nationals get back home? We are both in our mid 70s and have been invited to take the vaccine & have told our Doctor's surgery that we are "stuck" in Spain, they advised to contact then on our return. We now need to weigh the pros & cons on returning. Take care all and stay safe.

Rosie. I am a doctor in the UK. PLEASE stay put. The UK Government has not a clue how to manage this. Air con on the plane means even social isolation is a joke. I appreciate you have rent in both countries but what value do you put on being safe. STAY IN SPAIN!!

Interesting comment but the airlines claim that the air is filtered better on an airplane than in an operating theatre. A number of airlines have stated this. Most people who pick up bugs on planes probably do so by touching menu cards, magazines etc that have been touched by hundreds of people previously.
