Hi

Has anyone had an irrigation system installed in their garden?  How do you find it?  Rough costs to have it installed/recommendations.  We’re there lots of unsightly pipes.  Thank you.  Carole

Alpuente in Pilar has all the components to DIY.

Easy and inexpensive.

I used the Gardena smart system. With humidity sensor, so it skips watering when humid. Can be manually controlled from a smart phone (so also from abroad).

Sold at Leroy merlin:

but you also need the gateway and humidity sensor for the full possibilities.

Thank you.  Not sure if it is possible as it will mean pipes trailing everywhere.

Many installers will bury the pipes or at the least conceal them below any gravelled areas. However burying them is more labour intensive therefore more costly.

In principle they work fine. The problems can be the small diffuser heads of which there are different types and capacities. They tend to get blocked up with limescale, mud etc so need frequent checking and fiddling about with or replacing. Also you do need sufficient water pressure to ensure it runs to the end of your system although I believe you can have it pumped. We have the intermittent pressure problem being in the campo at the very end of the supply line, hence having a deposito and a pumped domestic system but we still have interruptions to supply.

Hi

Thank you taking the time to reply.  Can you recommend anyone who carries out installation?  Thank you.  Carole

Hello Carole, sorry, I’m not actually anywhere near your area. However, most of the professional garden service firms will do this for you, have a look online in your area. Get two or three estimates, but bear in mind that there are differing qualities of materials and controls as with anything.

Sorry an addition, you will probably find that eventually in ateas of high traffic through the garden that the hose may flatten so best perhaps to have buried in these areas?
