After a lot of bother with browsers and the process itself, I managed to get a number that can be used as an e-sig on official documents as at

https://www.sede.fnmt.gob.es/en/certificados/persona-fisica

However, it says '' With this Application Code and the required identity documentation, you must register with any of the Registration Offices authorized by the FNMT-RCM to prove your identity''

As ever with Spanish Red Tape, it doesn't actually tell you where these ''Registration Offices authorized by FNMT-RCM'' places are / what they are - Town Hall / Police Station ??

Does anyone know where you have to go and what you have to take other than the number they have issued via the website ?. I presume NIE number and Passport ?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve , that is a useful link.

For a full explanation of the process, including a map to pinpoint the offices that deal with it in your area , go to Jim's Guides towards the top of the Home page on this Forum.

Scroll down to

' Other tax advice in Spain',  then click on  . Electronic Certificates.

It sounds as though the FNMT process is as difficult now as it was when I did it years ago. When that certificate expired, I replaced it with the Valencian ACCV certificate. That just meant a visit to a local town hall rather than having to travel further to the nearest tax office.

Don't forget to also install AutoFirma.
