Does anyone have a current bank account here in Spain with Wise, if so can you pay all your direct debits with the account i.e. electricity, water, community charges etc.Do you have to set up the direct debits yourself. Thanks for your help.

I pay all my bills with my wise. Just persevere with setting up the direct debits, you won’t regret it.

Many expats have a WISE account, which is in GDP, with sub account in Euro.  Some of the utility companies accept the DD for Wise, many don't.  There is an issue with the WISE European IBAN:  it is not in the usual format or correct number of digits.  The Utility companies (Government Software Systems) will not accept the WISE European IBAN:  Many expats pay their Utility bills and SUMA online via Transfer or by Card (online).

WISE are looking at ways to get around this issue (Don't hold your breath) the other issue that arises is payments online for goods by debit cards from UK bank accounts including Wise, as the Billing address will be in the UK and the delivery address is your Spanish home, as UK is now a third world country (outside the EU) this is treated as suspicious activity and payments are declined.

"UK is now a third world country"

The UK is classed as Third Country not third world which are usually developing countries.

Correct, but it depends who makes the comment in the EU?  Germany, france, italy for instance are referring to uk status as third world, as a backlash for leaving the and depriving the EU of the largest financial contributor with least amount claimed back.  I speak from painful experience
