My wife and I (63 & 61) were given appointments today (15/12) for 5th Jan 22.

We do not qualify for Spanish NHS. We have private health insurance.

We went to our local health centre and presented

- our TIEs

- our EHICs

- the temporary SIP cards (now out-of-date) that we were given in support of the first two vaccinations

- our Padrons (which had to be less than a month old).

We were given new temporary SIP cards (valid until May 22), and our appointments.

The rationale on the appointment is "over 60 or Janssen".

Our Padrons and the old SIP cards were retained.

Hope this info is useful.

Thank you for the information, But I was on the understanding that the EHIC/GHIC was not available to TIE holders in Spain under the UK state pensionable age and only available to those who are or are receiving some sort of medical benefit from the UK government and have read that using/producing a EHIC/GHIC card can be illegal for those of us who have residence and private health insurance. I went through this scenario when I first applied for the initial covid jab/s as my original EHIC card had expired and could not be renewed having gained residency, I did in the end receive my temporary SIP Card and covid jabs without a EHIC card but it took 3/4 visits to my local health centre explaining that was the reason I had private health insurance, was you asked for your EHIC or did you just produce it.

We were asked for our EHIC cards today (and a when we applied for our initial vaccinations).

Having unexpired EHIC cards is pure luck on our part.

Yes pure luck as you say, as when I contacted the Uk government about renewing my EHIC, they asked if I was a Student or registered/receiving a disability pension or a registered S1 holder resident in Spain, when I replied non of the above they refused me a EHIC as I was not entitled to use in my predicament and should not be asked or use a EHIC for any medical or health care as I had private health insurance in place and the Spanish health authorities should not be asking for a EHIC as it’s against the agreement between both nations. Any way, again thank you for the information as I did not know the booster jab was available at this present time for the under 70s and vulnerable people.

Thanks Kelvin.  Hubby and I (64 and 61) went to our local health centre in Rojales yesterday and have booster appointments for Friday morning this week.

Like you, we have private health insurance, but don't have valid EHICs.  For our original vaccinations, our health centre didn't issue temporary SIP cards, but when we presented our SIP numbers this time for the booster jabs, we were given a registration form, "Part of health care to person who accesses as a private patient".  No mention of which vaccine we will receive - we had AZ for the first two, so we're hoping for Pfizer as the booster.  It will be interesting to see what we receive.

Best wishes,

Kim

Hi Jimmy,

We went to our local health centre in quesada yesterday and like we did not have EHIC and have private healthcare. We were not issued with a temporary sip card for our previous vaccinations but we went in with our passports and temporary sip numbers and we've been give appointments on Monday, temporary sip cards and told we will receive the Janssen jab. We are 61 and 60 . Things are changing fast because a week ago I went in and was told they were only doing over 70 and to come back next year, after seeing posts on here I decide to give it a try.  Sometimes I think it depends on who you speak to 😣😣😣

This is good news ... lack of EHICs shouldn't be a problem.

We had the AZ vaccines. Our printed appointments say that we will receive the Pfizer booster.
