Stay calm!   We are only in mid May and most ‘flu type viruses die out at this time of year. Should this be the case, governments will take the opportunity to get businesses under way. Each day brings changes. I have had information from friends in Dublin who have listened to Prof Dolores Cahill. It is her firm belief that taking Vitamins C, D and Zinc will boost your immunity system big time. Hopefully, you will be getting lots of vitamin C from all the wonderful fresh fruit available and Vitamin D from the sun. Check it out for yourself got I am happy to take any reasonable health advice so I have already ordered a supply for my husband and myself.

You are finally allowed out as a couple. That’s a big change and in due course your lives will gradually get back to a more normal type of living.

We are still hoping to travel over in late August for a month or so.  My daughter and her family who live in London are planning to come over to Northern Ireland for a month in July so we must keep positive and continue to make our plans. Life MUST go on.

So, maybe a little hope and timeline...tba

This from Alicante Dream Homes today...

This is positive news, the Spanish government are targeting mid June to open up for tourists from Germany, France and Italy and is in negotiations with the UK. If this happens the 2 week quarantine will also be cancelled.

They have informed all major travel companies to start to prepare. They are hoping to at least give the tourists industry some business this year.

Let’s wait and see

https://www.elconfidencialdigital.com/.../202005131939121...

We are currently in Rojales and have been since the beginning of March. We have had 3 flights back to the UK cancelled already. The latest cancellation from Ryanair came through this morning. We had been due to fly to Edinburgh from Alicante on 24th June. Unsure whether we should be booking for July now. If there was a chance of holiday flights mid June from UK, Michael O'Leary would not be s#*t-canning scheduled flights for the end of June.

Just a thought, not to concerned with opening up for tourist, but to let the people who have homes and paying bills there and also people like ourselves who dont have a home here in the uk anymore

Just want to return and get the residency I booked before this pandemic, the spanish government should realise we are a special case .

Exactly Dave !  Given that the tourists coming from the uk are high in infection levels it’s probably good to delay their 2 weeks getting smashed in the sun.
But homeowners aren’t your average tourist and should be given some leeway , especially those mid move or awaiting residency.

Yes I agree, but even if we were high risk, then that would also affect the ones that are allowed to enter and that doesnt seem to bother the government does it ?

Funny that. We are trying to get back to the UK (booked for 31 May) and we too got the cancellation email this morning. 2 now 2 cancels with Norwegian Air and one with Ryanair. My take on this is they KNOW they cannot supply but, due to their shareholders and how their books look they still are taking bookings. Some will take flight credit others refunds. To me it amounts to fraud. My best friend lost his fight for life last week (not Coronavirus) and they were going to delay the funeral but that's off now. I won't forget come some sort of normality who I decide to fly with and the airfare cost won't matter.

I have heard from many sources it will be September when Spain allows but only from certain countries. If the UK's death rate (official/real/unreal I ain't judging) is too high then I see a country by country ban.

I have posted this before, I don’t understand why people think the death rate in the uk is relevant to entry into Spain.

Surely entry should be granted after each individual has passed some sort of medical/test. The figures often quoted are counted differently from country to country and cannot really be compared and as I already stressed ,has no bearing on a perfectly heathly Person wanting to cross into Spain .

My opinion is that no EU country wants to keep tourist out any longer than necessary.

As someone being tested for Covid19 every 48 hours, I can tell you that it is not a pleasant experience. At all.

But...if necessary to cross borders in order to get to your second home, loved one or vacation, I would not hesitate for a second.

Agreed GrannyRose ;-)...on all counts - staying calm and boost your vitamins! Tbh the UK garden has never looked so good, practically manicured and house ready for sale now that the UK property market is reviving. We have no idea how long things will take but are pleased to see progress in the right direction. Stay well and I hope your own plans work through for you.

Best regards.
