Hello,

I’m trying to buy a house in pinar de campoverde and was looking to find out who the electric and water suppliers are along with internet suppliers?.

Given the amount of sunshine is the solar systems efficient enough? Any guidance from those that have solar panels or similar and recommendations for those companies/suppliers of these?

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks Sue, appreciate the reply. I’ll google them and look at their tariffs/speeds.

Solar water heaters are more common than full solar because of the initial costs. It seems like a no-brainer but you only have to drive around to see how few solar panels there are here because it would take many years to break even let alone start to save money.

Thanks Cheryl

I did wonder. I’ll look into options. I know it will vary according to use and property size, but is electricity reasonably  priced ? We won’t be using the house all year so I’m trying to calculate the minimum costs (fixed/standing charges) in addition to use. I presume pool heating and air con are the biggest cost fir power?

Electricity prices are going through the roof. Tariffs changed from 1st June this year and now we only get the cheaper rate from midnight to 8 am plus all weekends and national fiesta days. The peak rate is between 10 am to 2 pm and from 6 pm to 10 pm and there is usually a standing charge each month. Even though there are only two of us and we restrict our high users such as washing machine, tumble dryer (barely used) and dishwasher to cheaper rate hours and have even bought a basic bottled gas oven to avoid using the electric oven during peak hours, our bill was nearly €100 last month and we have bottled gas heating and hot water.
We don't have air con but I understand they are cheaper to heat than to cool and if you intend living here you will need some form of heating

We live in Campoverde and use Avatel as our internet supplier.  There is an Avatel branch in Campoverde - the new part, at the end of the strip where Portobellos and Danny’s bar are located.

Thank you Lamuse,

I’ll call into the local branch to discuss internet when I’m over

Electricity prices have gone up for some customers but our bills have reduced thanks to the cut in IVA and the plan we are on with Iberdrola. We have 3 bedrooms, electric oven and waterheater and a pool and are on the 8 hour plan which suits our usage. Friends are on day and night plan and their bills have also reduced.

Take a look at iberdrola.es and choose the English option. It will give you information  re prices locked in for 5 years.

The standing charge varies by the amount of potencia you have. Most people have 5,75KW which means you can draw 5.75 KW maximum power at any one time. If you attempt to draw more the system should trip out. Our friends have 5.75 and rarely trip the system. You can enquire about potencia if you find a property. Most estate agents ask for a copy of sellers bills for electric and water so you can ask to see those. A private sale should also let you see previous bills.
