Is there anyone who can help or give some advice. We are selling our villa we have not received the deposit yet but it is going to be transfered this week. We have booked flights for 2 June back to England and our 3 pets are booked in to be picked up on 2nd June to travel overland. We have been given requirements for testing before we enter the uk on reading this and discussing the worst case scenarios we are wondering weather or not to pull out of the sale or delay completion date. Is there anyone out there who is experiencing the same delema.
When is your target completion date at the moment, are you resident in Spain and have you sorted power of attorney out should you not be able to return in person to complete the sale. Have you sorted out a key holder should you be unable to return and the sale falls through.
Our situation was in reverse last year and after paying the deposit, which was paid to our solicitor not the vendor or their agent, we started to worry that we might not be able to travel over to complete the purchase within the time constraints and lose our deposit.
As it turned out we could travel and the vendor had signed power of attorney so it ran like clockwork'ish.
If you are resident here you should be more likely to be allowed to travel back if necessary though that is dependant on the severity of future virus numbers and the vaccination rates here.

We are residents of Spain we can give powervof attorney to our solicitor all that is in place. We are due and have made arrangements for our pets and belongings to go back to the uk. We booked our flights back to the uk for the 2nd June not worrying about covid it was only when we received a warning and requirements for 'fit to fly'. As Spain is very slow with their vaccine program and their cases of covid going up we worried they may go into the red zone and we would be forced to isolate in a hotel at a rediculous cost or we may not be able to fly if the flights are cancelled at that point we would be homeless and for how many months we just don't know.

Okay so your mail concern is covid. Why not bring your travel forward - numbers are pretty low at the moment?
If you do keep June as a travel date you just need to run your plan with risks understanding what happens if all or some of the risks become issues - make sure you have mitigation strategies in place for each. I'm no expert on Covid but red countries might be those where strains of the virus not yet dominant in the UK have been detected and rates are high. You can clearly mitigate the risk of contracting covid before you fly by taking precautions but at the end of the day who knows what the covid situation will be like in June.
Much of it comes down to whether your house is in demand or not and the price you've agreed. If you pull out is it likely you can sell it fairly easily in future? Personally I'm cautious and would probably accelerate my departure plans once the deposit has been placed and leave it in the hands of my solicitor.
Good luck :)

Thank you for your reply I understand what you are saying but I think we are in the hands of the pet transporters. We just about got the places and dates we wanted for them at a good price with a company that was recomended to us. If the deposit is in our bank tomorrow we will have to look at your suggestion or ask the buyer to delay completion. Personally I would rather go sooner than later. We could always look for alternative transporters. Thank you again you have been a good help.

Hello. I hope you don’t mind me asking but I wondered what your reasons for returning to the uk are? We are in the process of a move to Pinoso but we are still unsure on the move as we have 3 small children. I guess I’m looking for advice on the move and your personal experience.

Hi if you are young and have a young family I think change can be easy for you. We have several reasons for our move back to the uk. I am very home sick and I miss my friends and family I have a new grandaughter I have only seen once when she was borne. I have not driven alone here and I don't have the confidence to get in the car and drive so my freedom has changed. As I said there are several reasons for both me and my husband and it all boils down to our happiness. We are glad we did it if we had not come here we would have always had it in our thoughts and maybe regrets we never did it. Allot of people come here and love it and it suits them. I just wonder if covid had not happened and I could have visited the uk more often and my friends and family were able to come out and visit would I have felt the same. But I must admit I miss many things in the uk. All I can say to you is try it if it doesn't work out go back home you have many years ahead of you a young family and you have young brains. The one piece of advice I would give you is to learn the language life will be so much easier here. Learning a new language at my age and my husbands age is not easy I was never much good at foreign language's at school. Anyway good luck and I hope your life here will be very happy the weather here is wonderful for children they can play outside all of the time instead of being inside because of bad weather.

Hi Maureen, just to say I hope all goes well for you in your move back to the UK ,you appear to be somewhat of a rarity a person that moves back to the UK ,Moving to Spain on a full time business is totally different to the 2 week holiday experience .We moved June 2019 and found it very difficult to settle and missed lots about the UK ,so much so that we made expensive knee jerk reaction decisions. We have been back in UK since start of November and are waiting to get back to Spain for our 90 day visit ,we could have applied for residency in 2019 but the uncertainty of our feelings decided us against it ,we wont go for residency now as our pensions do not meet criteria ,but I am glad that Emmalouise asked you the question as it was good to get a person who was making move in reverse perspective on Spain, best wishes

Thank you we did go for residency and got it quite easy before brexit. We do intend hopefully to come back inthe winter months for long holidays so we are not saying goodbye to Spain completely it would have been nice to keep our villa and pop over when ever we liked.

Thank you for sharing!! I completely understand all your reasons. Not being able to see my new granddaughter would be reason enough for me to go home too. luckily my children will all come with us and they’re still very young. My mum and dad also want to join us which is a huge bonus in our move! That potential could of been a reason for me missing home. Good luck in your move and I hope you enjoy spending lots of time with your granddaughter!
