Hi

Could anyone recommend an air con engineer please? Unit randomly switches on and stays on. Outdoor unit fan, filters and heat exchanger have  been cleaned.

It's an LG Artcool unit.

Thank you.

Check your remote, as this might be the origin of it all. Seems to me it's set to maintain a certain temperatrure. In the worst case unplug the a/c unit from the mains.

Hi thanks for the reply. Unfortunately tried all of that. I agree though it is as though it wants to maintain the temperature.

Appears to only happen when it's really hot outside, as no problems since the summer, but I'd like to get it fixed if possible.

I think it's going to be one of those faults that's difficult to pin down!

Can you post a photo of your remote, showing the current display?

Hi thank you for your reply.

Please see attached photos.

I've noticed with all the air cons, when I first switch them on the temperature automatically sets to 18 then I have to alter it. However there only appears to be a problem with the one air con.

Thanks for your help.

I can’t quite see the icons on ur photo of the controller, you do need to make sure that you have the correct mode selected out of cooling, heating or auto. When you switch the unit on, if it is showing as 18degrees and auto is selected, the unit will run in either cool or heat to try and get the surrounding air to reach this temperature (in assuming that your unit has cooling & heating options - some are cooling only). Once this temp is reached the unit should go off, and will kick in every so & often to try to maintain this temp.

If you have heat or cool showing on the display, then the unit will still try to reach 18 degrees by either of these modes - however if cooling icon is showing the unit may not kick in if the room temp is below 18, as it is impossible to cool air to a higher temp!

I am a bit puzzled why your remote is actually showing 18degrees stepping, this is quite cool for a normal comfortable temp, do you find this to be quite cold during evening time or when the sun goes down?

Hi thank you for the information. I will look into everything you have mentioned.

I have no idea why all the remotes always switch on at 18. As far as I'm aware we have never set them to this and always change them immediately  to 22, but when I turn the air cons off and on again the controller resets to 18! Perhaps this is something we need to look at.

Thank you.
