To be fair, most Spanish would have a 3Kw supply so price would be quite a bit less. No standing charge on the UK bill, very rare these days, very informative post. Also note VAT on electricity is 21% in Spain compared to 5% in UK. When we lived in Italy VAT was 10% and most folk had a 3kw supply too.

220 kWh for £38.42 works out at £0.1746 per kWh.
Using an exchange rate of 1.15, that equates to 20 cents per kWh.
Our last bill for 517 kWh worked out at 18.2 cents per kWh.
QED.To illustrate the effect of all the addons, where I live my electricity is supplied by the site owner at a flat rate at what, on the face of it at least, appears expensive at €0.35/kWh however 110kWh would actually cost me just €38.50.
My supply is not restricted either so I can run what I like with no risk of tripping.

It is what it is, if you don't want to pay it sell up.
Best to take all costs in to account before making a big and possibly difficult to reverse decision. Summer sunshine and cheap booze must be weighed up against other factors. I love Spain, but you don't need to own a house there to enjoy the place.

I'm on the night tariff, with potencia of 5.75 kWh.
Bear in mind that if you don't use many units, then the standing charge skews the average unit cost upwards.
