Hello everyone, my name's Amanda. I have read several threads over the last few weeks and you all seem lovely people and extremely helpful.
Myself and my hubby (mark) have made the 'mental decision' we would like to make the move to Spain. I have recently taken early ill health retirement and have a small lump sum to start with. In order to make the permanent move however we would need to sell up in the U.K.
We have been doing loads of research on the internet, looking at different areas of Alicante (year round flights) and like the look of Pinoso, La Romana and surrounding areas. We have booked flights out for the beginning of February to have a look around the areas.
Our ideal location/property would be a finca/villa but within walking distance to a Town with amenities.
Our main concern, before we take the plunge, is how much money we would need to be able to live on on a monthly basis. I have a small monthly pension of approx £750. Would this be able to sustain both of us in the event my husband cannot find work? (he is an electrician).
I take a fair amount of medication (although I'm sure the warmth and healthy living would enable me to knock some on the head!). We also have 2 dogs (vets?). Trying to factor in all types of expenses.
We would very much like to integrate with the Spanish people and their way of life but, as we're only just starting to learn the language, we'd like the reassurance of English speaking neighbours in the vicinity also.
Anyway, so sorry for the epic, but it would be really great to hear from anyone who can share their advice/experience of already making the move. At the moment we're going round in circles not knowing who to ask for anything.
All comments would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards, Amanda
