Does anybody know of the costs of re-registering a vehicle bring from overseas? I will be looking to buy a car when I eventually get to move over full time and am thinking of buying in Germany where here is a better selection and driving it back over to Spain. I understand that there is a re-registration process but is it complex and expensive?

These are the experts and ask about the rules for importing as part of your household goods.

My UK plated LHD freelander cost 1100 euros to transfer to Spanish plates. Already fitted LHD headlights so no mods required.

You can only import a car as personal goods if you've owned it for a minimum of 6 months.

You can still import if less than six months. Just the taxes are different.

I used http://www.car-registrations-spain.com/

They were really helpful, in Los Alaczares. Took my car there for the ITV, spent a few hours by the sea and got the car back with an ITV.
