Water problems

Water is a major problem and in fact Spian is slowly desertizing. I recall when in the early 60s wine was cheaper than water.(until EU subsidized Spanish farmers for cleareing vineyards).  Many golf courses built 20 years ago in the Murcia area are abandoned due to lack of water.

Like last Saturday we and a lot of Spain had no electricity, so no aircon for pretty much an hour.

Sorry, but ‘ no air con for an hour’ really does sound like a first world problem!!

We’ve never had it, neither my parents nor us, and we are still alive!

 I do have air con but haven't switched it on yet his year!! I can cope fine up to 30C with  doors open & a bedroom fan. If it gets reeeeally hot in Aug, then  I  have it as  something extra I can use...

I cant stand being cold so I use it more as a heating system than a chilling one.

Whenever we go out or even just outside, I drop all blinds in the kitchen, bedroom , sitting room. This blocks out the heat and as they are white, doesn’t make the house dark. Keeps the place remarkably cool and simply run the ceiling fan in the bedroom.

As aggravating as water shortages are, they are a way of life in Spain; if you live in the campo, even more so.  I remember, when my out-laws moved here 20 years ago, that they were a weekly occurrence - and the frequency of electricity cuts was even worse.

Are you signed up to your water company's online service?  You may be missing out on advance notice of, for example, maintenence work that necessitates an outage.  On the rare occasions this happens to us, we're advised how long the outage will be and it's always shorter than the water company's estimate.

They sent quite a lot of mission-aries to South America.  And an armada to England.  That didn't go well though.

Ubeda is in Andalucia. Things are different there. And as someone has said, this really is a first world problem.
