Has anybody had any experience of getting a non co-pay health insurance policy with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure as co-dependencies

I am applying for a TIE card and have the financial information sorted but have been turned down flat by DKV for a health insurance policy. I have a UK private health policy that I have had for 20 years and my health issues are controlled with medication

If any has had a similar experience or knows of an insurer who accepts this sort of health issue I would be grateful to hear from you as time is marching on.

Thanks

Adam

Unfortunately it is highly unlikely that any insurance company is going to cover you for anything pre-existing. Unless you had UK insurance with BUPA, which here is Sanitas and therefore transferable I understand, they are all likely to refuse to cover these conditions.

I have existing insurance in the UK (not BUPA)  but need Spain specific insurance for a TIE application.

There must be someone who insures otherwise the whole system would be discriminatory and unlawful under EU law. I accept that I may get rinsed on the price but I only need it for 12 months post residence then I can switch to Convenio especial apparently,

Don't be put off by negative comments, as suggested speak to an insurance expert like Alfonso or at other companies, there are always options available.

By all means contact Alfonso, may people seem to recommend him.

There is an outfit somewhere further south who will arrange insurance for pre-existing conditions and if you are interested, I may be able to find the name, but can’t guarantee it. The only thing I will say is that they are incredibly expensive - I know, we tried!!!!!! fortunately we are entitled to use the Spanish healthcare system, but I was interested in having PHI as we’d always had it in UK.

I have made contact with Alfonso thank you. The broker who said DKV turned me down are in Estepona where I used to have a place and they were a bit dozy to be honest

Thanks

I don't really care what it costs as it is a pre-requisite for my TIE Application and it will only cost me for a year or so until I can move over.

Getting out of the UK for good is worth any cost really it is not a great place to be.
