Hello! Today we began our next life adventure, bought a lovely static on El Cortijo site. We are 60 and 67, so delighted to have found this beautiful location. Lots ahead, application for Non Lucrative Visa, as we plan to live in Spain 9 to 10 months of the year. So many questions and times ahead!

Congratulations!

With the non lucrative visa you are not allowed to be out of Spain for more than 12 months in the first 5 years so if you spend 3 months every year in the UK you will breach the terms of the visa so make sure you keep this in mind when planning your visits because your movements in and out of the Schengen Zone will be monitored now.

All the best with your new venture.

For any insurance carefully read ALL of the smallprint, usually a booklet taking some time to get through. In Spain policies usually include an automatic "adjustment" (increase) every year though used household goods never increase their value, but on the contrary loose it.

As far as I'm led to believe this is not correct, you are obliged to spend 183 days in Spain each year as a non lucrative visa holder.

That was my understanding of the NLV..We will go back to visit friends in the UK for no more than 6 - 8 weeks over the summer, also I have a Goddaughter in Denmark, so visit there a few times a year.

OK, not sure if I read the article correctly and now cannot find it so will do more research!
The 183 days does make sense as it means you remain a Spanish tax payer.
