I don't use a pellet burner, but understand the best pellets are those certified to EU standard ENplus A1. Pellets meeting that standard are certified to have a certain density, be less than a defined maximum humidity, have a defined minimum heat output and be 100% natural with no additives.
The problem is that many smaller producers don't subscribe to the classification system. As you can get pellets in 15 kg bags, I suggest you just buy one bag of what you can find locally and see how well they burn and how much residue they leave.
