Hi John

We go into mercadonna and buy a citronella body spray for ourselves it's about 1.30€ we spray that on our bodies after we apply our sun cream lotion outside .

Inside the house we buy the best plug ins Raid . Dont buy the cheap ones they wont work Buy the more expensive ones. It's always best to put your mosquito nets down and close up the house after 6pm. Mosquitoes love dusk .That's when we do a big aerosol spray  all over the house. Spray yourself again with the body spray after showering especially the ankles

For bites we use afterbite from the pharmacy it stings for a couple seconds but stops bites developing large on your skin It's brilliant .

Hope that helps

Sue

I have lived in Spain for more than 30 years.Had a business in the mountains which has every kind of biting insect & they all love me,even after all this time. Was once bitten by a praying mantis which is only supposed to bite it's male partner! Now in a town it is slightly better.I have a shower ,cover myself in lavender spray & go to bed.Above my head I keep a jug full of fresh herbs & outside my bedroom window are troughs full of lavender, rosemary & heather. For years I have gulped down brewers yeast tablets, now afraid if I stop, will it be even worse! I shut my windows before dusk which should deter the "ordinary" mozzie but now we have the tiger mozzie which is active during the day.Tiny little things(you can appreciate that I need to study the problem)that at first settle onto your arm,leg or anywhere & look like a black dot which if you flick, rise up on long legs/wings.Then you discover that, because they can bite multiple times, there are several very itchy little red spots which can extend from ankle to anywhere upwards even through thin clothing.I always have handy a tube of Fenegan crema from the farmacia which at least stops the irritation.Over the years have tried the plug in prevention cures etc.& spent money on lots of sprays & creams that you would think the biters are drugged out of their little insect minds.I am determined to yet beat the critters.

Use skin so soft oil by Avon. They absolutely hate it!! Firstly it is oily so they cannot land on you. Secondly they hate the smell. It actually smells ok and is not over perfumed. If u use insecticides on the skin.....these can be harmful. Skin so soft is brilliant. Trust me......

In May I had 3 large bites on my legs which I had to go to the clinic every day , I had injections , pain relief, antibiotics and antihistamine, and was nearly hospitalised but for being so close to flying home , so this time I was very worried about it happening again , so I take 20 mg of antisamine a day and spray myself with a mosquito spray bought from the outdoor shops for trekking in the outdoors, one day I got bitten on my eye and at the back of my ear, so the bug spray has worked now i put it everywhere because I was bitten where I didn’t have any repellent, I put on antibiotics cream and the bites did not get infected but they were still quite bad , I think Iam just allergic to the bites so have to be extra careful,  good luck
