Hi everyone

We are looking to move to the Calpe area in the next year or so, and would like to meet up with people who have done the same as us.  Kids grown up and gone, etc.  Is there a Facebook page as well as this forum.  Any ideas on areas around Calpe that are lovely any villas for sale etc etc.

Thanks everyone

love Jacqui xx

HI Jacks  I have posted on here before but it seems that no one Lives in Calpe or Altea or Altea Hills

So they are either a Stuck up load of Snobs and don't have the time to be part of this Forum

or it is so nice there they don't want anybody else moving into the area !

Anyway will see what it is like in September when we are down there hopefully it wont be Closed.

No we do not have a property there and would strongly advise any one thinking

of Buying to take a 12 month Rental to decide if they really can live there and (once the honeymoon is over)

of staying in a new place and leaving family behind let alone the way you have lived before which will not be anywhere near the same

as it was (the other mans grass is always greener springs to mind) which in most cases it is not !

Another real Concern should be what will happen with Brexit most Brits could be told to Leave the Country despite owning property

a lot on here will pooh pooh this Fact but Let me Assure you the Spanish have no Loyalty or Care for British Ex Pats and now is not the time to buy Property in Spain

Then there is the Language difference if you do not Speak Spanish Fluently or Understand what is being said to you can be a real problem

We Have lived in a Spanish country for 3 years the Spanish law is a nightmare has is dealing with any

Official or Government Department

let alone Spanish Property law and so called Lawyers (All out to Separate you from your money) as quickly as possible with out a care for you.

Please my Friend THINK long and Hard about IT Rent by all means its a lot cheaper than buying a White Elephant that you may not be able to Sell.

Thank You for that Pacoboy

I Try to be Honest but there is a always someone out there who thinks differently

let them learn the hard way like we have had to do with 65 years of Experience

fighting to Survive the Lying two faced swine we have met.

You are so Right  (Trust no one) and sometimes that means your best friend or family !

I seriously don't know why Bentley2010 comes to Spain at all. He is perfectly entitled to his opinion, but hundreds of thousands of ExPats disagree with him.

He is absolutely correct to say that you should rent first and try and decide on the area you want. The big ask is how far from the sea you want to be. You will generally be able to find the right property in every area, but the 3 most important things to consider are location, location and , you guessed it, location.

Best of luck in your quest.

Bentley has a very strong opinion and good luck to him. I have rented in Playa Flamenca for several years, got to know and talk to lots of people, learned some Spanish, got recommendations for Solicitors, Builders etc, , bought a property this time last year, did a huge refurb and am very happy.

I did not get ripped off, am not bitter and twisted, unlike some, and am very happy with the whole experience.

I would ask Jacks why Calpe? Have you looked further afield? If You have settled on Calpe, go for it, but please, please do what all have said, including Bentley and rent for 12 months.

Just a note, but why someone who hates everything Spain and Spanish so much, and does not visit the country is on this forum baffles me. I am sure there is a reason, but I doubt if its a valid one. Good luck Jacks.
