Hi all, another question, does anyone know if any shop stocks BULMERS CIDER, as opposed to Magniers cider. Thanks Zdenek

Iceland sell 500 ml bottles at the expensive price of €1.75.
Have you tried Spanish cider? It's got far more flavour than the big name UK brands, and considerably cheaper.

I understand that for legal reasons Bulmers is put on the market labelled as Magners in the rest of the world. However, I have seen Bulmers at shopshelves in Benidorm.

I am from Hereford, the home of Bulmers cider! The original and best, especially when The Bulmer family owned and ran it. All the apples came from local orchards, hence the taste. When in Spain I drink wine...

It’s also usually incredibly sweet!!!! Although that may not be considered a disadvantage by others!
But none of it is as good as French Normandy cider!

I disagree, Stephanie. Some Spanish ciders are sweet, but others are nice and dry and full of flavour. An advantage is that they're so cheap that you can buy a variety of brands to find out which you prefer.

Sorry, Jim, but I think we are going to disagree on this. We have tried many of the ciders here, and have yet to find one which we consider drinkable in comparison with French. I’m leaving UK ciders out of this, because although Arthur quite likes that one in a black can (Strongbow?), we really don’t like the ones produced by the large companies. I’d be interested in any recommendations which you may have though, as we are always open to suggestions!

Sorry, Stephanie, I never did have a favourite - I liked trying different brands, although I avoided any that said dulce on the label. These days the only alcohol I drink is whisky, so don't have and cider in stock. I do take your point about Normandy cider - I was comparing Spanish cider to British.
