Hi,

This may seem a silly question but its about the 90/180 day rule.

While I`ve used the Schengen calculator to calculated the 90 days when coming over to Spain  (17/04/2022 to 13/07/2022= 86 days) when I return to UK for 90 days before returning to Spain can I still use the calculator to calculate the 90 days ie back in UK on 13/07/2022 and back out 10/10/2022. I take it I could stay longer than 90 days in the UK as long as only 90 days in Spain.

Note: I`ve used the calculator and plugged in all the dates I`ve been in Spain since my passport has been first stamped so I`m ok with the dates of 17/04/2022

TIA and stay safe

Hi William,

Yes, the Schengen calculator just makes it simpler than the manual calculation you could do yourself, i.e. when you come back out in October, you count 180 days backwards from the last day you will be in Spain, and so long as you haven´t been in Spain more than 90 days in that 180 days, your trip is within the rules.  The important thing to remember is that the 180 days are a "rolling" period - as you continue to do the calculation for successive trips, your earlier trips will "drop off".  And yes, you can stay longer than 90 days in the UK, so long as you don´t exceed 90 days in a rolling 180 in Spain (or anywhere else in Schengen).

By the way, good on you for keeping your trip to 86 days - always best to give yourself a a few days contingency in case of emergencies, rather than risk overstaying.

Kind regards,

Kim
