Hi all,

We have just purchased in Res Avalon and are signed up with Iberdrola.  If there is anyone living there who could advise what tariff we should be on for the size of property. Reading mixed reviews re 3.5 or 5.5kw.  Will call into the office in La Zenia at some stage when we get over but in the meantime would like to get some idea of what is needed.  Many thanks

Depends on whether it’s a holiday home and how big the property is and if you have a pool.

With the lower rating you’ll find your electric tripping if you run the air con, cooker and kettle together.

We stayed in a rented apartment for Christmas once, with the lower potentcia.  Trying to cook Christmas Lunch was a  military operation. We had an electric heater on , which meant we couldn’t run the hob and the oven at the same time. We had to switch the oven and the heater off  before we could boil a kettle of water.  Good job the fuse board was only 5 steps away from the kitchen.

Hi

We live in a 2 bed house, no pool. We have the lower tariff and get by quite happily, although it does trip out sometimes. It will depend to some extent on the wattage rating of you water boiler and aircon. The oven wattage is also relevant, but its only heating a small volume of air, and once it's up to temperature it stops heating - so its basically just circulating the air, which doesn't take much power.

Cheers

I have a holiday home which in normal times would only be used for about a total of 12 weeks a year. I am on the Iberdrola stable plan which seems to be ok.

If you download Iberdrola I.de website it allows you to monitor your usage and vary your tariff too. When in Uk we use the night plan for 14 hrs cheap use (keep fridge/freezer and security night lights on), but when there I change tariff to 8hrs plan selecting 9amto 1pm and 7pm to 11pm, both periods allow me to cook and use appliances for best use of electric.

Might just help someone get better control of their bills.

Regards

Pauline

Thanks Pauline. Most of the emails I receive from them are in Spanish.  I can get into my account just can't see where the hours I set are. Its not the easiest website to navigate. Plus the solicitor gave the wrong bic and ban so that has to be sorted. Again tried to change it myself online but wasn't able to. Solicitor says will sort it eventually I suppose. Regards Annette

Hi

If you're on an 8 hour plan, that's probably done through Iberdrola Clientes, https://www.iberdrola.es/webclifr/#/login which is different to Iberdrola distribution https://www.i-de.es/consumidores/web/guest/login

Hi

Confusing isn't it?

In the UK, people can have a contract with Scottish Power, which is owned by Iberdrola. In Spain, people can have a contract with Iberdrola Clientes, which is owned by Iberdrola.. When you get your bill, what company is it from?

BTW, I'm no expert, but I am also on the 8 hour plan.

Cheers
