Hi All

Does anyone know anywhere in Playa Flamenca where we can buy fresh olives? All we've seen so far are from a jar or tin, such as those at the market.

Thanks in advance.

Outdoor markets all seem to have stalls selling olives and they are on each week somewhere

Because that is basically how they are sold. You would need to source them from a local olive grower I would think.

They are mainly sold in brine, oil, salted, with stones, stoned, stuffed with a variety of  items ,ie anchovy, peppers, chilli, lemon etc etc. Sometimes stoned and sliced, mainly black, useful for salads.

From the market you buy olives by weight. Every market sell them in either little round tubs or in takeaway size containers.

Lidl sell just plain green stoned olives  in little plastic pouches, they’re sold in packs of three but have a very long sell by date.

They also would rarely be sold ‘fresh’ as in straight from the tree. They need to be treated, a process which can take several days, frequently in brine, as they contain  various very bitter components which makes them actively unpleasant.

Thanks Lynn

I am thinking it could be that I've been having them in vinegar rather than oil that I'm not enjoying so much. Will try in oil at the next market stop. Haven't ventured to Lidl yet - its on the list.
