Dogs accepted

I take my 2 very large dogs with me to Villamartin a few times a year. Dogs are welcome in all bars I go to. But there are no dog friendly beaches anywhere in the area

Thanks for your reply. I had thought Playa Flamenca allowed dogs on the beach, I'll have to check that info again.

Going off the initial subject, do you fly your dogs or drive? I have 2 that are gonna cost me an absolute fortune to transport to Alicante.

Drive. Just come back at the weekend. Takes us about 27hrs from NW England via channel tunnel. Costs £600 that's all in tunnel, diesel and toll costs. Stop every three hrs to give the dogs a wee and a walk

That's brilliant. We were thinking of driving but you wouldn't believe the difference in price because of the extra ferry from Belfast to mainland. 

If we go down to Dublin and fly, our flights are only €30 each. Add the 2 dogs and we're talking just short of €1,000!! 

The other way is Dublin to Cherbourg ferry and then a 15 hr drive from Cherbourg.

Mind you if it was a 1000€ for the dogs as well return not doesn't sound to bad

I had thought about driving but haven't driven on right hand side for about 20 years and have lost the confidence to do it now  

I appreciate you saying that you think €1,000 (£840) to fly the dogs out is reasonable as I have only got the one quote so far and had no idea if it was good or bad, however this is for a one way trip, we are moving permanently. 

Hi Jules, there is a small dog friendly beach in playa flamenca, it's not the main beach just a little further on towards punta prima. Regarding your dog travel , have you considered having a look at pet transporting companies , this is how I got my dog to Spain from london, it cost me £365, one way .she was brought by road and ferry.

Thanks very much for replying and confirming there's a dog friendly beach. I had seen this on A Place In The Sun, but then read on here that there wasn't, so I'm glad you could confirm that.

The quotes I have got for ferries, road etc are just unbelievable! Some talking nearly £2,000! because we're in Northern Ireland, the extra ferry is making such a difference.

We've decided to fly them over, on the same flight as us. Got a quote for Belfast to Alicante, one way, €875 (for both dogs) and €80 each for their crates. More hassle but a 3 hour flight is better than 3 full days on the road.
