Hi all we've just opened a bank account with bankiter for the purpose of obtaining residency and showing 3 months banking in spain. I know there are fees for non residents. Guy in bank said only account we can get as residents next year would be a pension account which would have free banking . My pension cannot be lodged onto spanish bank directly from Ireland. Is there a bank for when we get residency that has fees lower than 95 euros year besides wise etc. I want to be Abe to go into the physical bank shouldi have a query. Thanks
Why can't you have your Irish pension paid into a Spanish bank account? You just need to complete an Overseas Transfer Declaration to be able to do this.
Caixabank gives free banking if you pay more than 300 euro a month from a pension or unemployment benefits or 600 euro a month from employment and you pay at least 3 direct debits a year. The credit card is issued free if you use it 3 times or more per quarter.
They regularly send me a statement each quarter which shows fees are €60 a quarter but then meeting any two requirements they give me a deduction of €60 a quarter and the statement states fees = 0. Not been charged any fees as a resident in the 14 years I've been with them and I get a private pension paid in monthly.

The hospital I worked at say they can't.
What's to stop you transferring your pension from wherever it's paid to your Bankinter account, if you do a direct transfer IBAN to IBAN it should be either be free or cost very little.

I'm using CaixaBank and they charge me €35 / quarter. I have tried everything by the book to avoid that fee, but to no avail. They just don't want to give it up.

If you keep your Irish bank account you could have your pension paid into the Irish account and then do a transfer using Wise every month to pay it into your Spanish account. Wise have very low fees to transfer money.
