Hello All, My daughter opened a bank account with Bank Inter, put a lot of money in, then requested a debit card to use for cash.

she walked all the way to the bank then was told NO she could not have a card, as the bank had put a block on it, and they did not have to give a reason, she could open another account and transfer or have money in cash, would not transfer to British bank.

Now she has no money and no card, HELP!

What could we do, any advice would be helpful.

Thanks Jean

Hi Jean

I appreciate how frustrating this must be. I’d be cross if that happened to me

However, you say they have given her options; open another account or take her cash.

I’d be inclined to take my cash to another bank 🤪🥂

Hi, thanks for your advice, yes I guess that would be the only option, but I would love to know why, I think the bank people messed up, and the card department now wont issue. We will have to get a lift as we dont drive, and unadvisable to walk through the streets with a lot of cash.

From our experience this bank is an utter shambles, my husband had to visit the Los Dolses branch 5 times during lockdown last year to get his new debit card, the first renewal of the debit card was chaotic as they sent it to our old address in the UK, no reason or apology given, last year we begged and pleaded with them to allow us to collect the card from the branch they refused and lo and behold it did not arrive hence the 5 trips everytime my husband went he was given a different reason why the card was not available, I am sure they make these things up as they go along.

More worryingly last Saturday we walked by the bank and through the front window there were in clear view papers with peoples names on, loan amounts, I did not know if I should take a photo but then I become part of the problem. So much for data protection. If I see this again I will be reporting the data protection lapse to the regional Manager

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Ok thanks, that's interesting, although she has disclosed the method she obtained the money, but hey ho who knows what happens here.

Thanks Jean

Hi, thats very reassuring for us, because my daughter was absolutely devastated by the way she was treated in public, we are a careful and law abiding family, so not used to being treated as criminals, they have obviously messed up some where and are now trying to cover their butts, we intend to go back and demand our money in cash, we don't trust them.

Thanks Jean

To be fair to BankInter I have had very good service from them. Even being paid interest on my account for the first two years.

Most banks are now very sensitive to large amounts of cash being paid in. In fact there is a new law coming in that forbids companies taking more than 1000 euro in cash for a transaction.
