Visiting the Salt Lakes

Is there any public transport from Playa Flamenca or nearby areas to the Torrevieja salt lakes? Is this the best of the salt lakes, or is La Mata a better option? We just want to experience the sensation of bathing in the mud and floating in the heavily salted water, but no idea which is best or how to get to either of them!?
