For the typical home user there few, if any, compellng need to subscribe to a paid for AV programme or service, the FREE versions are perfectly adequate.
I've been a PC user since the days of DOS and have only ever used free products switching between them if or when they became irritating or obstructive (popups urging an upgrade to the paid for version), overly resource hungry (many are anyway be they paid for or free), or an 'update' comes along which simply ruins the experience - which happens a lot!
There is a also substantial cohort of informed opinion which posits that for Windows 10 & 11 the protection the built in Windows Defender affords is all the majority of regular users should need.
BTW, call me a Doubting Thomas but addressing an existing subscriber as 'loyal customer' as opposed to by actual name is a bit of a red flag to me that something may not be 100% kosher!.
To solve your problem have you tried fully unistalling the old version before installing the new one with a rebbot inbetween?
