Has anyone flown back into Scotland (Aberdeen in particular) and not used the CTM recommended testing company and instead used Randox for the Day 2 test?  Randox is about half the price..... a small variation in price would be acceptable but this is a BIG difference, someone is making a lot of money out of this......

Hi Alison,

I've seen one member suggesting they may do that, but no-one yet who has said they've done it and got away with it.  I'm sure you know that Gov.Scot states that, "you must book and pay for this test using the CTM Booking Portal", although as a Day 2 test on CTM costs £88, versus £48 on Randox, I can understand why you're asking!  I don't know about Scotland, but the Gov.UK website suggests travellers risk a £500 fine for non-compliance, so I guess it depends on your approach to risk.

Kind regards,

Kim

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thanks Jayne, that's really helpful.  Randox is the UK's largest supplier and processing laboratory of clinical tests, so it does seem odd that Scotland (and Wales) insist that tests have to be purchased via the CTM portal - at a significant mark-up! - when the tests are probably being processed at Randox anyway.  As Alison and many others have said, it seems like there's a lot of money being made on this for.....??  🤔

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks very much folks.  I guess i just have to decide if it's worth risking it....... definitely don't want to be hit with a £500 fine but feel like we're being properly ripped off with this....

I suspect Boris may have cornered this market long before Nicola thought of it.

Of course I may well be wrong.
