The UK government on Sky News a few days ago refused to give any detail on what was being discussed regarding vaccination passports. They just kept saying international travel was currently illegal - I think most of us knew that.

Why can't they be open and honest and tell us what's being discussed on our behalf.

I belive the World Health Organisation are working on something. Hopefully all countries will adopt a common approach but I have a bad feeling that the UK government will come up with their own system that either won't work or won't be recognised by certain countries.

I found this petition which has very few signatures.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/574479

Unfortunately, I also found a petition with 167,000 signatures asking the government NOT to implement a vaccine passport system as it would infringe the human rights of those who don't want the vaccine. Hard to believe........

Spain are discussing vaccination passports along with other countries and I think its the way forward.

Hopefully the UK won't get left behind.

Make your own minds up about the petition above, its just here for info.

If the UK are not making vaccination compulsory they cant then insist on a vaccination passport.

For what it's worth I agree with the idea of a vaccination passport, or a stamp in our travel passports to confirm we have been vaccinated and the date.

I'm not suggesting people should be forced to have the vaccine or hold a vaccination passport in any form.

But those of us who want to travel should have the choice of an internationally recognised record of vaccination.

Hi Craig, I don't mind having a vaccination passport but I am not clear what the value would be of  knowing if someone had been vaccinated or not. Does being vaccinated stop you from spreading the virus and/or is there some other benefit in knowing the vaccine history?

By the way, I have had my first vaccination, second due in April, and I have carried a vaccine passport in the past so I am not averse to having one, just not sure of the benefit.

 Aitch.

If countries i.e Spain insist on vaccination before entry then we'll have no choice apart from stay at home.

Whether the vaccine stops you being able to carry and spread virus is one for a scientist. Some believe it will some say its too early to say.

So very much an unknown then. I'll have my vaccine's and see what develops with travel requirements.

Craig245t From your first post "Unfortunately, I also found a petition with 167,000 signatures asking the government NOT to implement a vaccine passport system as it would infringe the human rights of those who don't want the vaccine. Hard to believe........ "

I don't know if this petition is based on the idea of a travel passport. There has been a discussion in the UK about people who have had the vaccine being issued with a passport that hospitality businesses could use to allow or disallow entry into their premises. The argument is that the lack of a passport would infringe the right to freedom of movement for those people who choose not to have the vaccine.

The vaccine passport which would allow people to travel abroad would only impact those returning to the UK since whether they could travel to another country or not would be dependent on the country they were visiting. Many travellers leaving the UK already have to have vaccines for diseases which are endemic in the countries they are visiting, so these types of precautions are already widely used.
