Can anyone recommend a car hire for months of July and Aug?  Have booked with Ryanair previously but the prices are now expensive. Both drivers are over 50.

Rental prices are always high if you book a long way in advance during peak season and also if you try to book for more than a few weeks.  I doubt very much that there will be enough demand from tourists this year to match the ten of thousands of rental cars sitting in off airport car parks here at the moment, so I'd leave booking until nearer the time.

I normally use Holiday Autos to check prices with all the main suppliers, but book direct with the supplier which is usually (though not always) a slight better deal.  The best rates are for bookings of less than a month, but it's easy to return a car and start a new rental, usually just keeping the same car.  Longer term rentals seem to be available at reasonable rates only with very limited mileage (which might suit you if you are not planning to travel around much).

Hi, try Do You Spain.com.  we have always used them in the past.  The rental rates are cheap but like all rental          companies their insurance will make up the bill.  July and August will be expensive wherever you go.

I took a look at DoYouSpain and found low headline rates but lots of unavoidable extras hidden away in the terms and conditions. Eg 'full to empty' fuel policy with a tank of fuel charged at 135 Euros. That's about double the price at the pump and it's very difficult (and stressful) to leave the tank empty on return. You don't get this with Holiday Autos.

Incidentally, if you need to return a rental vehicle at Alicante with a full tank I can recommend using the petrol station in Torrellano. Not the cheapest but filled by the staff, about 3km from the airport and you can use the back road past all the off airport car rental depots to get there. Plenty of places to buy some food for the journey too.

Hi Evelyn,

I use EDI from ALC and highly recommend  https://www.edirentacar.com/

Give them a call - Claire or Paul - they have a common-sense business model especially around collection/drop off.

Have a great trip,

Martin
