Hi,
I am looking for car hire/loan of a car for me and my teen son. A basic car to be used for a general runaround during our stay between August 03rd - 12th 2022. I’ve Full UK driving licence and AIG European cover insurance. Playa Flaminca region

Don’t think Stuart your Uk insurance will cover a Spanish car but in Spain it’s the cars that are covered by the insurance rather than a driver so a full licence could allow you drive a friends car. A standard insurance wouldn’t allow them hire their car out though.

Yes, I’ve looked at a few mainstream ones and doyouspain etc but they are high in price at the moment but it’s ok I’ll look again nearer the time and see. I was just enquiring really. Thanks
In Spain it's the car which is insured not the driver so on that score theoretically anyone could loan you a car but I wish you the very best of luck in finding an altruistic owner willing to step forward and offer you their keys.
Regarding private hire, similarly to UK Spanish insurance policies will expressly prohibit loaning out for hire or reward so there is no legal scope for such an arrangement.

Re hire car companies Do you Spain cover various companies, a few of which are located in Alicante airport. For some reason prices drop during the evening, sometimes by quite a bit. We tend to look during the afternoon and then check again around 8pm. It’s surprising quite often the difference. May be worth keeping a check on their site and possibly the individual companies.
