It will be illegal to have it on the road so you will have to get it transported to the ITV centre.

Correct, unlike a UK MOT in Spain you cannot drive a car to an ITV with an appointment - or on the road at all - so transporting becomes the only option.

Do you know anybody who could take it for you, it would save you a whole world of hassle not least of all that until you do get it ITV'd you'll be needing to organise alternative transport.

For the future you can renew an ITV at any time so if there is a risk of you not being here to do it when it falls due then get it done before you leave.

That's the Law but practice is not as strict. In the worst case, if cought, police will retain vehicle docs and send them to "Trafico" where you can recover them providing proof of ITV inspection WITHIN 3 DAYS. Exceeding this limit would result in heavy penalties. Even better, make an online appointment and print out the document. Show this to the police and no action will be taken.

Hi. I was 3 months late with renewing my ITV and there was no issue. As long as the car is not being used of course!
