Good morning all,

I wondered if any others are in the same position as me.

I was due to fly out to Alicante with Easyjet on the 9th August. Now the government have put a 14 day Quarantine in place  and advises that non essential travel should not be undertaken, this has made it impossible to travel, as our insurance would null and void and 14 days quarantine is out of the question

Now, Easyjet have said they will continue with flights and earlier last week (before the restrictions were put in place) i received an email to state my flight was going ahead, so i am unable to change my flight for free and would have to pay a  hefty surcharge for each passenger.

So its an impossible situation.

I love to hear the thoughts of others.

N.B - i am in favour of the restrictions if helps to save lives but the Government and airlines need to be in sync

Hi Movingon,

If you read my post properly, you will see that i have the answers , but my point is that its an impossible situation and i was looking to hear from others in the same position, hence the first line of my post reads 'I wondered if any others are in the same position as me'

Today's statement from Easyjet.

The airline said that customer who no longer wished to travel could transfer flights free of charge or obtain a voucher for the value of the booking.

An EasyJet spokesman said: "We are disappointed that the Government has decided to impose a quarantine requirement for those travelling from the whole of Spain since the increased occurrence of coronavirus is regional rather than nationwide.

"We plan to operate our full schedule in the coming days. Customers who no longer wish to travel can transfer their flights without a change fee or receive a voucher for the value of the booking.

If the booking is for over 14 days time it’s free   If less than 14 days it’s £32 per passenger

I'm in a similar situation. I live in Scotland and when the 14 day quarantine was raised I booked a flight with KLM, via Amsterdam. Although the flights are still going ahead my predicament is that my insurance is null and void, so essentially traveling during a pandemic without insurance is a no go. I can manage a 14 day quarantine upon return to the UK, but I think it is more sensible to stay away.

Hi Gerard,

Im sorry to hear about your situation.

I think if the airlines stay in sync with the government then all would be a lot clearer

We were due to fly out to Alicante on the 11th with Easyjet

I've spent 2.5 hours yesterday and 3 hours today on the phone in a queue and didn't manage to speak to anyone. To make it worse, the music while you wait is crap😁

My choices today we're to change the flight free to a date in the future where I don't know if I can get annual leave. Or, do nothing and from tomorrow change my flight to another date at a cost of £32 per flight per person as you say.

It's a catch 22

I've filled in a form from my bank to claim the money back as I can't contact easyJet.

However, whilst typing this I've had an email to say wait for the flight to be cancelled then claim a voucher or full refund.

Have you filled in the online contact form?

Craig

I think I'd still tell them you want to change flight in case they don't cancel. They'll treat you as a no show.

You didn't have 14+ days to change flight  free of charge so they have to allow this.

Here's a link to the form

https://www.easyjet.com/en/help/contact

Halfway down the page......at least you'll have told them you want to change free.
