Hi all

We're over soon to our new holiday home. Trying to pack is a nightmare as I'm bringing stuff for the house. Just wondering can I get prescription meds over the counter in the pharmacys, usually bring my own.  As I'll be spending longer times abroad would be great just to buy them there and leave there. Things like BP n heart meds. Thanks

When we first arrived here in Spain I was able to get my BP meds over the counter, Ramipril, Doxazosina, Amlodipino hope this helps.

Great thought so. Other parts of costa blanca never had a problem. Less to worry about now. Lol.

I used to buy my blood pressure and Cholesterol tabs from the Farmacia in Benidorm. I had a months supply for around €4

Hello

Not sure how recently  people have been able to buy some of these meds but mine too,( BP/heart meds) were once  available to buy but now, only available with prescription.

The farmacia  said that the regulation of some  meds for sale, has been tightened up  a lot ,so I guess you might have to shop around to get what you need.

Cheers

Yup, I have to go get a script for BP & thyroid meds . They don’t recognise my Australian script and empty packs don’t help.   I would take a good supply and a copy of a script in case you need to go see a GP to go get a local script.

A few years ago, before we moved to Spain, we came for a 3 month stay and we obtained enough prescription medications for the whole stay from our UK doctor.

It may also be of interest to you to have a look at the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain website regarding bureaucratic things in Spain.

Also, don't forget your masks as they are mandatory in Spain whether you are inside bars, restaurants or shops, etc. or outside in the street or market if you are coming into contact with anyone within 1.5 metres.

Same here Steve but haven't been to chemists in playa flamenca. I presume same there. Just wanted to make sure.  Regards  Annette

Hi yes heard its masks everywhere. Regarding meds they are lot cheaper in Spain than here. Plus I'm running out of luggage space. Lol.
