My husband is using a lot of medicine plus various mouthwash following throat cancer we got a letter from gp and then emailed flight company and we’re given a special exemption waiver so we could take an extra suitcase for free

Re meds.

1. If you run out go to clinica, show your E111 card or whatever the up to date version is.

2. Ask for a script. You'll probably be told to wait to see duty doctor.

3. Your script from England is useful but not vital.

4. You should be given a script and take it to farmacia with your entitlement (card/form) this should get you your meds without a problem.

5. Depending on age you will pay for example 10% of the value or less.  In December my husband needed Apixaban(90+euros) but because he is 75 only paid less than 5 euros.

6. If you ever do buy at full price and it is substantial keep your receipt as you can reclaim it once back in England.

7. I got my BP meds over the counter by showing my uk script and as they were only 4euros 24 cents I didn't even bother to spend my time and their stretched resources going to clinica even though at my age of 68 I would have only paid 10%.

Hope this helps

Considering it is £9 per item in uk and unless medically exempt pensioners have to pay for prescriptions soon that is the better op

I got what I am prescribed in U.K. over the counter at the pharmacy in SM.  Just showed the boxes. My husband got his statins by just showing the packet.
